What You Need To Know
A Mild is just what the name would suggest; how refreshing (both literally and figuratively), is an ale that is mild in alcohol strength. Milds are the ultimate session beer perfect for those times when you want more than one, or two, beers but still want to keep your wits about you. Don’t confuse Mild with “light” as a well-made Mild is full of flavor and often dark in color although this is not a requirement.
Sadly this style is a bit of an endangered species, which is hardly cause for amazement in our bigger is better climate– or the hoppier and more extreme is better in beer terms. In the perfect world every pub, and especially the brewpub, would offer a Mild.
