The Current Cocktail of the Week
Previous Cocktail of the Week
The Best Bloody Mary
Cocktail for the Week of: February 1 to February 7, 2012
Nothing says brunch and/or the morning after like the Bloody Mary. When it’s really needed even a mediocre Bloody Mary is good but a great Bloody Mary sticks in your memory for years.
Highland Sour
Cocktail for the Week of: January 25 to January 31, 2012
Sours are often a great and versatile cocktail style taking the essence
of the Spirit of choice with a fresh, tart, and semi-sweet citrus mix.
We love Rum, Whisky, and Pisco sours and greatly enjoy tweaking the
standards.
Argyle Elixir
Cocktail for the Week of: January 18 to January 24, 2012
Scotch Whisky and Sherry go together like peas and carrots. Most Scotch
Whisky lovers know of the long practice of maturing Whisky in casks
once used for Sherry. This cocktail plays on that pairing albeit
seriously ramping-up the Sherry component...
Red Lion Cocktail
Cocktail for the Week of: January 11 to January 17, 2012
The Red Lion is a great old cocktail hails from London and was first seen in print (we think) in the Café Royal Cocktail Book, 1937. We love its simplicity, its balance, and its drinkability.
Brandy Alexander
Cocktail for the Week of: January 4 to January 10, 2012
At times there is nothing like an "Old School" cocktail made without embellishment.
Auld Lang Syne at Culloden
Cocktail for the Week of: December 28 to January 3, 2011/12
We really like the simplicity and tasty goodness of the old Culloden
cocktail that is a simple concoction of Drambuie and Sparkling Wine.
While we like it, it does not meet the session test, as it is just a
bit too sweet. We added a modest dose of fresh lemon juice and a splash
of ginger ale (a spicy ginger beer is even better) to add balance.
EggNog - BevX Style
Cocktail for the Week of: December 22 to December 28, 2010
Perhaps there is no other beverage that says Christmas and New Year
like eggnog. This decadently rich beverage is a hallmark of the holiday
season and is a guilty indulgence in the holiday season. It is
certainly not for everyday drinking!
Mulled Wine (Christmas Nectar)
Cocktail for the Week of: December 14 to December 20, 2011
Mulled, spiced wine is one of the great and classic staples of the
Christmas season. It’s a universal signal of the season being found
anywhere that a December chill can be found.
Rummy Hot Chocolate
Cocktail for the Week of: December 9 to December 15, 2009
In the holiday season we are encouraged to play with comforting
cocktails. There is nothing more comforting than taking a childhood
favorite and tweaking it for adult only consumption.
Hot Toddy - BevX Style
Cocktail for the Week of: November 30 to December 2, 2011
This classic winter cocktail can soothe us and at times heals us with its warmth and clever dose of Whiskey. It can be made with great ease and requires no special skills or ingredients.

A Turkey in a Sidecar
Cocktail for the Week of: November 23 to November 29, 2011
The Sidecar is a classic cocktail with somewhat disputed origins. Some
insist that it hails from London while others will swear that it’s
Paris. However, this Thanksgiving Day inspired variation is 100%
American in derivation.
Aged Rum Old Fashioned
Cocktail for the Week of: November 16 to November 22, 2011
The Old Fashioned is a classic cocktail whose base spirit is Whisky, most often Bourbon. However, in the modern bar many variations exist including the use of Rye, Blended Scotch Whisky, or Brandy. Despite the many different twists, the Old Fashioned always uses a brown, wood-aged, spirit as it's base and the Maraschino Cherry is ever present. This version showcases quality, aged Rum as it too has an affinity with bitters and fruit, the two key supporting players.
Commodore Jock
Cocktail for the Week of: November 9 to November 15, 2011
The Commodore is a classic old cocktail is included in the Old
Waldorf-Astoria Bar Book and relies upon Rum as its Spirit of choice. Through the years, the Commodore
has been turning-up as a Whisky cocktail featuring both Bourbon and
blended Scotch Whisky.
Caramel Apple
Cocktail for the Week of: October 26 to November 1, 2011
This caramel apple won't cause an emergency visit to your dentist. A great cocktail for a Halloween or fall theme party.
Rusty Nail
Cocktail for the Week of: October 19 to October 25, 2011
With just two ingredients, this cocktail could not be simpler. But don’t be fooled as this cocktail stirs much debate regarding the proper proportion of the two spirits.
Tropical Ruskie
Cocktail for the Week of: October 12 to October 18, 2011
I suppose that I should start by saying that I have never been a fan of the White Russian. It's fair to say that I am not fond of creamy drinks as a rule. I'm also the guy that trowels the whipped cream from my pie as well...
Algonquin Cocktail
Cocktail for the Week of: October 5 to October 11, 2011
This great drink shows the versatility of Whiskey in cocktails and the
spicy appeal of Rye. The Algonquin is proof positive that you don't
have to have a dozen ingredients to have a dozen flavors in a cocktail.
It makes a great aperitif.
Bushranger
Cocktail for the Week of: September 28 to Otober 4, 2011
It's ultra refreshing and easy to construct acting as a great aperitif in any season.
The Aged Rum Sidecar
Cocktail for the Week of: September 21 to September 27, 2011
The Sidecar is a great example of a classic cocktail that is built with
just three ingredients. Every element serves a purpose and every
ingredient has to be good as there is nowhere to hide.
Singapore Sling - BevX Style
Cocktail for the Week of: September 14 to September 20, 2011
At BevX we have a penchant for classic cocktails that have evolved or
perhaps even have become corrupted in some way through the years. The
Singapore Sling is certainly one of those cocktails.
