Oban 14 yr old Single Malt Scotch Whisky (Scotland); 43% abv (Scotland)
Brilliant copper color. A wonderfully complex nose showing sweet malt notes complimented by hints of peat and sea salt. A lush texture on entry with enough viscosity to suspend the melange of flavors on the palate before a swift wave of peat, smoky wood, pepper, cloves, and just a hint of iodine giving nod to its seaside home. Beautiful.
Oban 18 yr old Single Malt Scotch Whisky (Scotland); 43% abv (Scotland)
Brilliant golden/amber color. The nose is simply beautiful offering scents of tea biscuits, tropical fruits, shortbread, and candied walnuts with accents of sweet smoke, and vanilla tinged oak. The palate is in full agreement being incredibly lush, opulently textured with trace notes of black pepper, sea salt, allspice, baked fennel, and toasted grains. Ideally balanced with great length and style. Perhaps 18 years is the sweet spot for Oban.
Orange V Vodka (USA); 38% abv (USA)
Crystal clear. The nose is unmistakably orangey with notes of orange candy and orange zest. The flavors are equally intense and refreshingly pure and authentic. The texture is semi-viscous and the overall impression is certainly sweet. If you’re seeking a dry, Vodka-like experience, look elsewhere. If you want an assertive and versatile orange spirit, look to Orange V.
Orchid Guava (Canada); 13% abv (Canada)
Deep, peach color, dense and opaque coating the sides of the glass. The nose is filled with the scents of ripe, sweet orchard and tropical fruits. The palate echoes the nose being ultra lush and thick. Make your own flavored Vodka.
Orchid Lychee (Canada); 16% abv (Canada)
Pale green, similar in color to grapefruit juice while semi-milky coating the glass when swirled. The nose is fresh with ripe tropical fruit notes with accents of lime. The palate is rich and silky with intense ripe flavors of lychee, apricot, and peach with accents of citrus. Ideal for a variation of the classic Bellini.
Orchid Mango (Canada); 16% abv (Canada)
The color is deep, tropical orange, thick and nectar like in appearance. The nose is amazingly fresh and pure. The palate is intense and lush with a refreshing tart edge. Texturally this liqueur is incredibly rich and thick being nearly chewy. The intensity of flavors is surely best suited as an addition to a fresh cocktail, added to Prosecco, or simply cut with soda and ice.
Orchid Passion Fruit (Canada); 15.5% abv (Canada)
A bright color being a cross between carrot and burnt orange. Thick and viscous coating the glass. The nose is fresh with the scents of ripe passion fruit with hints of vanilla and citrus. The palate echoes the nose being lush while vibrant and semi-tart begging the next sip. Complex and ideally balanced.
Orchid Pomegranate (Canada); 14% abv (Canada)
Bright cherry red and crystal clear. The nose is filled with the scent of fresh crushed red berries, cranberry, and semi-tart pomegranate. The palate confirms the nose offering waves of ripe berries with accents of citrus, tart cherry, and a hint of vanilla. Great length, complexity and balance. Nearly endless list of applications.
Oro Azul Anejo, 100% Agave Tequila (Mexico); 40% abv (Mexico)
Translucent amber color. The nose is very intriguing offering scents of brandy, rum, bourbon, and vanilla with accents of toffee and sassafras. The palate echoes the aromatics while being medium-bodied with a soft, silky core that trails to a drier finish with a firm wood note. Like many añejos, it is light on pure agave essence while generous in sweet, dense, brown spirits character.
Oro Azul Blanco, 100% Agave Tequila (Mexico); 40% abv (Mexico)
Crystal clear. The nose is amazingly fragrant and generous filled with scents of fresh baked agave, honeycomb, jasmine, wild flowers, and a touch of campfire. The palate is rich and lush while crisp and spicy offering flavors of tropical-like fruit with lime zest, sea salt, and black pepper. Complex and ideally balanced, enjoyed straight by lovers of pure agave spirits or use the Oro Azul Blanco as the base for a world-class margarita.
