Handley Sauvignon Blanc Dry Creek Valley 2008 (USA)

Bright straw color. The nose is fresh, complex, and very unexpected. Scents of pineapple, limeade, peach, and kiwi dominate accented by hints of lime zest and mineral. The palate is equally rich while vibrant with subtle wood influences that compliment the multi-layered fruit core. Ideally balanced with a perfect dose of natural acidity. A real charmer.

Hughes Family Vineyards Syrah “Savannah Vineyard” Sonoma Mountain 2006 (USA)

Dark, deepest red being inky in appearance. The nose is dense with ripe and dried black berries with accents of fresh herbs, dark chocolate, and black pepper. The palate is quite compact and austere at first withholding its fruit core. After being opened for more than an hour it really opens and shows you what it has. This dense Syrah is supple yet ideally balanced with waves of dark fruits and exotic brown spices. Complex, rich and ready for bold dishes like grilled leg of lamb. Bravo!

Hall Cabernet Sauvignon “Jack’s Masterpiece” Napa Valley 2005 (USA)

Deep, bright ruby red to purple. The nose reveals a dense, sturdy, wood influenced Cabernet. Notes of black pepper, allspice, and oak compliment scents of blackberry and currants. The palate is lush and vibrant with a firm tannic edge that frames the lovely fruit and spice flavors. A massive wine with delicate and complex flavors comprising the wine’s center.

Handley Brut Rosé Anderson Valley 2006 (USA)

Soft pink salmon color. The nose is wonderfully fresh with scents of strawberry, plum, and raspberry with accents of citrus and yeasty bread. The palate perfectly extends the aromatics delivering a vibrant rush of bubbles with a lush, fruit driven core. It becomes creamy on the finish with a final note of crisp citrus that invites the next sip. Stylish and complex.

Helfrich Gewurztraminer Grand Cru Alsace 2005 (France)

Bright golden color. The nose is simply beautiful offering an amazing collection of aromatics from the floral to citrus, tropical, and stone fruits with a brilliant mineral edge. The palate echoes the nose bringing waves of lychee, red grapefruit, pineapple, mineral, honey, with hints of clove and ginger. Perfectly balanced being hedonistic while thought provoking and complex. Super and a terrific value.

Helfrich Riesling Grand Cru Alsace 2005 (France)

Brilliant straw color with hints of gold. The nose reveals a classic Riesling offering waves of orchard fruits with exotic tropical notes, a fine minerality, and varietal/terrior based petrol tones. The palate affirms the nose offering waves of complex fruit, floral, and mineral flavors. Each sip reveals formerly hidden nuances. Perfectly balanced and ideal for the dinner table pairing well with everything from roast pork to grilled firm fish and shellfish.

Herzog Wine Cellars Cabernet Sauvignon “Special Reserve” Alexander Valley 2007 (USA)

Bright ruby red to cherry color. The nose is generous and expressive with scents of red cherry, blackberry, and plum with accents of bell pepper, rosemary, and mineral. The palate agrees with the nose delivering flavors of baked berries with hints of mineral and sweet vanilla and oak. Soft tannins and long, lingering dried berry notes.

Herzog Wine Cellars Chardonnay Central Coast 2008 (USA)

Pale straw color. The nose is fresh and exciting with scents of ripe apple, peach, and pineapple with accents of green melon and citrus. The palate confirms the nose with a lush, semi-sweet core while maintaining its crisp, zesty appeal. Nicely balanced with a well-proportioned dose of acidity. The finish lingers with subtle oak notes.

Honig Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley 2005 (USA)

Deep, dark intense color. Wonderfully generous on the nose with complex notes of berry fruit with brown spice and vanilla. Massive and generous on the palate with restraining notes of earth, wood and dark chocolate all in good measure. While typically not fans of big, effusive Cabernets, this one is just so charming and well composed that it must be loved.

Honig Sauvignon Blanc Napa Valley 2006 (USA)

Pale straw color. Amazingly fresh on the nose filled with scents of citrus zest, star fruit, and pink grapefruit. The palate echoes the nose offering a wine that borders on lush, kept in check by a fresh dose of acid and a clean, crisp, minerality. Complex and playful, this versatile wine is a great match with grilled fish to chicken salad.
