Bright ruby red color. The nose is fresh with the scents of fresh crushed berries with accents of brown spices. The palate reveals a dense, raisin-like Zin with a playful and interesting marriage of earth, spice, vanilla, and pepper. Ideally balanced and perfect for any grilled meats or just a glass. Very well put together and it offers a lot of flavor and style for the price. A Best Buy.

The palate echoes the nose bringing waves of classic Zinfandel flavors presented in perfect balance and style. An incredible wine that marries the best attributes of New and Old World wines creating complex and fascinating layers of flavor.

Ravenswood Zinfandel “Old Vine” Lodi 2006 (USA)

Deep red with brick red edges. The nose explodes with blueberry, blackberry, plum, and currants with accents of cinnamon, allspice, and vanilla. The palate fully agrees offering waves of ripe fruit and spice flanked by toasted oak and hints of black pepper. Wonderfully balanced with great natural acidity that makes this an ideal BBQ wine.

Ravenswood Zinfandel “Old Vine” Napa Valley 2006 (USA)

Dense, dark black cherry color. The nose offers a distinctive melange of wild berries, fresh herbs, brown spices, wood, and earth. The palate is focused and structured with a bright fruit core accented by flavors of cloves, cinnamon, nutmeg, and cardamon. Ideally balanced with great length and complexity. This Zin can’t quite decide whether it wants to roll over you or finesse you into submission.

Ravenswood Zinfandel “Old Vine” Sonoma County 2006 (USA)

Deep cherry red color. The nose is expressive and seductive offering waves of ripe crushed berries with accents of brown baking spices, fine mineral tones, vanilla and a judicious use of oak. The palate opens with an austere note that soon blossoms to reveal the density of fruit at its core flanked by spice and earth. Forward and pleasing at this stage but we suspect that this wine’s best years lie ahead.

Deep, dark garnet red color. The nose is just beautiful showing an ideal marriage of dark berry fruits with exotic brown spices like cinnamon, clove, and nutmeg with hints of oak and vanilla. The palate is equally lush, dense, and complex showing great balance and length. Very food friendly with enough structure and acid to stand along side grilled game.

Deep, dense ruby red color. Raspberries, blackberries, and cherries fill the nose with accents of mineral, dark chocolate, and brown baking spices. The palate echoes the nose delivering a berry forward, chewy red with gusto to spare. Ideally balanced with great length and soft tannins. For the committed Zin lover, you just can’t beat the flavor to price ratio. An undisputed “Best Buy.”

Ravenswood “Icon” Sonoma County 2006 (USA)

Ultra dark red nearing black. This is a massive wine with a take no prisoners motto to be sure. Dark fruits, earth, complex spice, and wood notes fill the nose. The palate is a bit more austere while still possessing all of the attributes found in the nose while delivered in greater dimension. A dense, complex, and sturdy wine that is certainly uncategorizable.

Ravenswood “Pickberry” Sonoma Mountain 2005 (USA)

FEATURED

Ultra dark red nearing black. The nose is dense, concentrated and complex offering scents of black cherry and blackberry with notes of plum, mineral, cocoa nibs, allspice, and earth. The palate delivers the same being generous while quite dry and perhaps a bit austere with strong suggestions that this wine’s better days are ahead.
