Sanctuary Cabernet Sauvignon “Usibelli Vineyard” Rutherford 2005 (USA)

FEATURED

Dark, dense, garnet red color. The nose is wonderfully complex and generously sweet while austere with cola, cocoa, vanilla, blackberry jam, red cherry, raspberry, sweet oak, and a subtle pinecone note. The palate is in full agreement deftly marrying the complex flavors in to one, multi-layered, harmonious Cab. Incredibly deep and complex while offering pure hedonistic pleasure.

Sanctuary Pinot Noir “Bien Nacido Vineyard” Santa Maria Valley 2006 (USA)

FEATURED

Bright ruby red color. The nose is filled with classic Pinot aromatics marrying bright berry, cherry fruit with a fine minerality and hints of earth. The palate confirms the nose while revealing waves of ripe fruit with semi-tart dried berry notes, black pepper, oak, and earth. Ideally balanced with incredible length, style, and panache. A real charmer.

Sanctuary Zinfandel “Mariah Vineyard” Mendocino Ridge 2005 (USA)

FEATURED

Dense, earthy, brick red color. The nose is super dense offering waves of ripe and dried berry fruits with accents of black pepper, earth, clove, allspice, and lavender. The palate echoes the nose being rich, austere and incredibly balanced with great length and depth. Finishes with flavors of tart cherry and dry oak tones.

Sausal Zinfandel “Century Vines” Alexander Valley 2007 (USA)

Bright ruby red color. The aromatics reveal a dense and complex Zinfandel with a compact, seemingly secretive core of berry fruit with compliments of mineral, cigar box, spice box, and oak. The palate is just as concentrated with semi-dry raspberry like fruit with brown spices, mineral, black pepper, and a healthy dose of balancing acid. This stylish Zin combines hedonistic flavors with depth and intrigue that is found in abundance here. Stellar now but we see this aging nicely for a decade or more.

The palate fully concurs with the nose offering waves of ripe fruit married with spice, dark chocolate, and hints of earth and oak. Perfectly balanced with grace and populism wrapped in one tasty and value priced Cab. Lovely! A Best Buy.

Sonnet Chardonnay Columbia Valley 2007 (USA)

Bright straw color. The nose reveals classic Chardonnay scents of ripe apple and pear with tropical notes as well and accents of lychee, vanilla, and citrus. The palate concurs being perhaps a bit more tart than expected with flavors of crisp apple, grapefruit, and pear taking the lead. Ideally balanced with a judicious dose of fresh acid that makes this a very versatile Chardonnay at the dinner table. Pair it with poached salmon, roasted chicken or simply grab a glass, as it is quite refreshing in its natural state.

Sonnet Merlot Washington 2006 (USA)

Brilliant, luminous ruby red color. The nose is fresh with scents of sweet and tart cherries with red currant and hints of mint, tarragon, and subtle notes of earth. The palate concurs with the nose delivering bright, semi-tart cherries with flanking notes of earth, wood, and herbs. Ideally balanced leaning toward the austere and stylish rather than fruit driven and luscious. A great value.

Bright cherry red color. The nose is wonderfully fresh and fruity with scents of blackberry, raspberry, and cherry with accents of cinnamon, nutmeg, mocha, and red roses. The palate picks up where the nose left off adding texture and vibrancy to the racy fruit. Wonderfully balanced with a great dose of natural acidity and a soft mineral and earth note that rises on the finish. This ideally proportioned wine is more style than flash and a fantastic value. A Best Buy.

Sonnet Riesling Columbia Valley 2008 (USA)

Pale straw color. The nose is wonderfully fresh with scents of ripe apricot, peach, pear, and mandarin orange with accents of lime, mineral and hints of ginger. The palate echoes the nose with great freshness and vibrancy that invites the next sip. Ideally balanced with the zesty natural acidity perfectly layered with the ripe fruits and semi-tart citrus notes. A great aperitif and a Best Buy.

Sonoma Cutrer Chardonnay Sonoma Coast 2006 (USA)

FEATURED

Pale straw color. The nose is deep, complex, and ultra refreshing offering scents of green apple alongside spring flowers with hints of green melon, citrus zest, pear, and mineral with accents of ginger tea and oak. The palate is in full agreement being generous while austere and ideally balanced with fresh, natural acidity and blanched almonds.
